“I HAVE A DREAM” Part 2

In yesterday’s post, I made an opening statement that bears repeating before we continue.  If you were to ask me to summarize my philosophy in one word, it might very well be this one: DREAM!  If I could use two words, it would probably be: DREAM BIG!

Wouldn’t it be nice if life was easy, or at least predictable?  I think we could all agree on this one point: Life is neither!  So because of the difficulties and unpredictability of life, often one’s dreams become a casualty of the reality of living.  And yes, in this “real” world we live.  But, must it be at the expense of our dreams?  I hope not!

Some of you reading this post may have forgotten that long ago dream that once piqued your excitement.  While others will maybe scoff at the very thought of dreaming, clinging to reality as you know it for fear of never achieving that dream.  Whichever you happen to be, I hope you’ll reconsider.

I tend to be that person who believes dreaming is a part of reality.  And it’s so important that I purposely schedule time for what some may deem to be meer fantasies!  But for me, dreaming maintains a necessary challenge in my life!

Ah, but dreaming in and of itself can be a bit of a waste.  One must realize the dream is only the beginning.  A dream will never come to fruition without specific structure that creates an opportunity for that dream to become a reality.  That specific structure seems to be where so many falter.

But, we’ll save that for a future post.  Right now, why not allow yourself the freedom to dream again.  Just for a moment, think about something you might want to achieve, or a place you may want to visit, or even a career you could begin to pursue.

While you’re dreaming about that, I thought I would share a few shots of a quaint little French Crepe Cafe I came upon a few weeks ago.

It looked very inviting.

It would appear there is immediate seating.

The flowers add a simple touch of elegance.

It’s a picture-perfect day for some crepes!

Remember, dreaming is not this whimsical disconnect from reality.  But, it is the beginning of a process which challenges you to believe you can do whatever you choose to do, or be whatever you choose to be.  It can be the beginning of a new career, of becoming a more dedicated photographer, or even a better person.   Or maybe like me, you’re just extremely excited to see where this photography dream might take you!

So, why this series of photographs?

No particular reason.  Let’s just say, I thought a taste of Paris might be the perfect dream for someone today.

Thanks for stopping by.  I’ll see you tomorrow.  Don’t be afraid to dream!

  5. I would love to try the crepes. And yes, we all must dream. Being a successful author is my dream and photography is my hobby. Now that I’m retired I should spend more time doing both.
Have a blessed day and keep dreaming.

  7. Always have a dream! 🙂

Lovely capture of the flower baskets – the crisp white flowers are a nice counterpoint to the brighter flowers in the back of the row.

  12. I was so surprised that it was so quiet there at this time of the day – it was about 9:30 AM. When I was there before, there were people and traffic everywhere. I truly wanted to relax and have some coffee, but I was pressed for time. Thanks for stopping by, Michael.

  15. I hope one of these days you will share your thoughts about the structure for making dreams happen. I think part of my issue these days could be the beginning of mid-life crisis sneaking in (I turned 41 this year) and the thoughts that go with it sometimes try to convince you that your dreams have passed you by. I want to keep dreaming.

The crepe place looks like a lovely spot to pass an afternoon, people-watch and take pictures!

  16. I may do just that, Karma. But until that day, don’t worry when the doubts and fears creep into your dreams and goals. That’s perfectly normal. Just remember, the first step is to believe – don’t ever stop believing – even in the face of doubt! Don’t worry, at 41 your dreams have far from passed you by.
