SAYING GOODBYE TO SUMMER

You might imagine this to be just a little late – this goodbye to summer.  But, in Southern California the seasons are different from most other places in the USA.  Some of our warmest weather occurs in September and October.  In fact, just this week we’ve seen temperatures around 90 degrees in the valleys.  But not today.  No, today has brought cooler weather accompanied by a light drizzle.  Most would think this to be awful weather – but, not me.  To me it’s a welcome sight.  Really, there’s nothing better than heading to the beach for a warm bowl of chili on a cool, damp, misty day!

So today I bring you my farewell to summer with a quick trip down memory lane.

Enjoy…

So I bid you adieu, my friend!  But, you’ll be back – and, I’ll be here waiting for you!

I may be doing that soon, myself. thanks for stopping by today.

  6. They are all beautiful, colorful tributes to summer. I’ll have to come back and look at these again in January when the snow is thick here and all we see is white (snow) and gray. 🙂

  7. Some very nice shots here! I hadn’t seen all of these, but I recognise a few from your older posts. I particularly like the butterfly and the pier shots, but I think the bee is my favourite out of this collecion. Perfect timing and excellent composition! Love it!

  14. Yeah, you manage to get super-vivid colours in some of your photos. I love the last shot, just because I’m a bit of a fan of shooting into the sun. Things like sunset shots always look pretty amazing. Lens flare can also sometimes play up for some interesting and unexpected shots.

  18. Your hot air balloon photo really caught my eye. Did you hear about the accident at the Cottonwood AZ Airfest 2010? Here’s a link to the story: http://www.verdenews.com/main.asp?SectionID=1&SubSectionID=1&ArticleID=38780
My hubby and I witnessed the accident while at the airshow. Will never forget it…

  23. You know Dragonfly, this is the only dragonfly I’ve been able to shoot! I’ve posted three blogposts about the shoot which spanned several days. Check them out if you have the time. Look for the archives that mention a dragonfly or “Red” which is my given name for him. Thanks for stopping by and leaving such a kind comment! I hope you’ll stop by again.
