A THANKSGIVING THANK YOU!!
Thursday, November 25, is Thanksgiving Day in the United States. It’s a day when people gather with family and friends to celebrate all that is Thanksgiving.
So in that tradition, I would like to take a moment to thank the readers of Photographyfree4all! From 78 different countries, you have stopped by, often leaving a comment or two, and greatly enhanced the interest level of this blog. You have taught me the intricacies of better photography and even some global terminology that at one time was completely foreign to me. And I must say, I’m really “chuffed” about that!!! See, I told you I’m learning new terminology. (By the way, “chuffed” is a good thing!) 🙂
The image below represents the global presence here at Photographyfree4all! It’s a photo from what I sometimes refer to as a “drive by.” I was driving by, thought it looked interesting, and decided to capture a few shots. It’s also another example of what a circular polarizing filter can do to your colors.
Thursday will find me gathered with my wife, my two sons and their wives, and my four grandchildren. As I sit around the table with these loved ones, I’ll say a prayer of thanksgiving before sharing a wonderful day together!
So wherever you happen to be in the world, even though you may not celebrate this particular Thursday as Thanksgiving, look around you and be thankful. I know I will.
I really hope you’ll leave a comment! I would love to hear what you may be thankful for today!
P.S. November 25, would have been my mother’s birthday, too! So, I will also reflect upon a childhood filled with so much good I couldn’t possibly list it all here. Sadly, time requires that we say goodbye to people we love. My father passed away in 1985 at a rather young age, while my mother passed away more recently in 2009. I miss them both dearly.
Thanks for sharing today – it blessed my heart. I will be surrounded by a loving husband and family as well and am so thankful for miracles large and small that make up my life on a daily basis. Your photography and story-telling bring something special to the table that I really look forward to each day. Keep up the great work! Happy Thanksgiving! 🙂

I am Dutch… coming from a lovely country (Netherlands) i have seen the vast blessing this new homeland of mine has to offer. America has so many freedoms. And so many opportunities for people. Space, and room to grow. I never had hunger, or wars to fight growing up. But i see how many people do go through such heart ships. I love love love this U.S.of A… what a blessing to be here.
A day to say thanks….REALLY! Thank you to our soldiers that fight to keep these freedoms. Thank you for our founding fathers… Thank you for the pilgrims that build what we now enjoy… and thank you for family, health, beauty and bounty…

Excellent shot, Steve! I love the way you’ve framed it with the acacia leaves, and I love the idea it represents! This is so beautifully foreign to me, coming from somewhere where a grey and wet autumn is turning into an even greyer and wetter winter! Btw, I’m honored by the mention of our conversation! 😉
Happy Thanksgiving!

Thanks for sharing such an inspired post and photo. I really love the lighting in it–one more reason to think about filters.
78 countries–that’s a really good reason to be chuffed. 🙂

Thank you for your comment, heather! Love the “Chuff” reference! 🙂 Give filters some thought – I don’t think you’ll regret it. It really opens up the middle of the day for some great photography. So many of my mid-day shots were washed out before I started using them. Thanks for stopping by. Have a wonderful Thanksgiving!

What a wonderful post, thank you. I too am so thankful for my family. I have a husband, two sons and their wives and a darling eight month old grandson. Our grandson is like a ray of sunshine to all of us. God has blessed us beyond compare. He has all of us! If we look around we will see that He gives so much and ask nothing in return, truly unconditional love. I thank Him for a wonderful life. I too, lost my parents at an early age so I feel for your loss but thank God you did have them and their love for a while. Please keep up the post? I look forward to them daily.

I too, am thankful for your wonderfully crafted posts. I always look forward to reading them and wish (and hope) that perhaps one day, I will be magically transformed into a beautiful wordsmith for my photo blogs (hey, one can dream)! But seriously, I wish you and your family.
To answer your question, I am thankful for my world…my family. 🙂 I would be a shell of a person without them!

I was pretty such how you were going to finish that thought anyway, David! Thank so much! I always appreciate your comments! They always add to the post! It’s interesting, most of the time I feel like the posts are incomplete until the comments begin to be posted. Then, it makes me feel like we are truly benefitting from the writing. Thanks!
