BIG BEAR LAKE – A WINTER WONDERLAND
Sometimes you return form a photo shoot a bit disappointed, thinking your shots really are ordinary, at best. That was the case a few weeks ago on a day trip to Big Bear Lake, California.
Even though these shots may not be prize winners, I still liked the winter mood they created. An afternoon of skiing, followed by the crackling sounds of a warm fire, while enjoying a hot bowl of potato cheese soup – ahhh, what could be better?
Much of the lake was actually frozen, which created some interesting lines and reflections.
The sky was pretty blue, enhanced by my polarizing filter.
This photo shoot was two weeks ago. By contrast, I spent today at the tide pools in Little Corona Del Mar in Newport Beach, California. It was 78 degrees! The California climate – it’s really hard to beat!
Love California! I would really like to spend some time there. I’ve never been to Big Bear Lake. It is beautiful! I think these captures you took are very interesting. I can feel the cool nip coming off of them.

Thank you Angelia! It really is a beautiful place. This snow was about 5 days old, which meant very little was still clinging to the evergreen trees. Maybe next time I’ll actually be there for the snow. I think the shots would be so much better! There was definitely a cool nip in the air – even though it was bright and sunny! Thanks for sharing your comment! Great job!

Thank you Kuukisu! I’m glad you’re enjoying the photos. This was a fun shoot, but just not much really high quality shots came out of it. But, I liked them and I’m glad you did too. Thanks for all your comments! I look forward to them.

Oh, that looks like it was a fun place to be. There’s nothing like a lake in the winter.

You could spend a few days shooting here, easy! I usually spend a week up here in the summer and also a few weekends in the winter. Very beautiful! Thanks for your continued encouragement, Michael!

It was beautiful, but I suspect it was even more beautiful a few days earlier when the snow was still clinging to the pine trees. But, my schedule just wouldn’t allow it this time. There will be more snow, though! So, I will be trying again soon. Thanks for stopping by Robin! Love your comments.

It’s good to hear from you, heather! I’m so glad you’ve shared another comment! This lake comes to life in the summer – but, it’s also nice to visit it in it’s quiet serenity during winter! Thanks for reminding me of that! Your comments always encourage. I’m very grateful for that! 🙂
