THE LION’S LIGHTHOUSE FOR SIGHT

Located in the Long Beach Harbor, this lighthouse doesn’t actively guide ships to their destination.  However thanks to generous donations from the local Lion’s Club, the Lion’s Lighthouse for Sight stands tall in all of its beauty as the centerpiece of this attractive harbor that is home to Seaport Village, the Aquarium of the Pacific, the RMS Queen Mary, as well as numerous specialty shops and restaurants.

The Lions Lighthouse for Sight - Long Beach, California

This was an early morning photo shoot allowing me to take full advantage of the color created by the golden sunrise, and making for a very smooth harbor reflection.  You really must set out early to capture the best images!

  4. When I opened this one the email only let me see the top half and I was thinking “OhKay…?” Then I scrolled down to catch the the rest of your explanation, and that’s when I said “OH!” I love reflections. I like to look at them in real life, photographs, art (Monet comes to mind) and I do try my hand at them on occasion.

I must say you are great at this! I’m loving the mid-line colors and how you have almost perfectly bisected the photo (balance). I’m not a professional, of course, but I know what I like. ~ Lynda

  10. This is quite a compliment, Lynda! I, too, love to see reflections. I have been here numerous times, but the reflections were never clear – too many sailing crafts stirring up the water. But this time I decided to get there so early that if it was ever going to be still – this would be the time! And sure enough…it was! Thank you for your comment, Lynda! I’m glad you participate in the discussions! 🙂

  11. The circular polarizer was definitely doing its job in this shot, Kuukisu! The reflection is startling to me…it’s just so rare because so many boats are going in and out of the harbor! 🙂

  12. Thanks, Kieran! I had to work quickly. These flowers don’t bloom very long…and the water is never still enough for a reflection like this one. Early in the morning made that possible. I beat all the boats that were soon leaving! 🙂 I’m really glad you stopped by. I hope you’ll come back and join in the discussions we have here!
