PORTRAIT LANDSCAPE OR LANDSCAPE PORTRAIT?
I guess a portrait landscape/landscape portrait would be a landscape that is presented in a portrait format.
🙂
I don’t often capture a landscape in this format because, except in rare cases, to me it seems to limit the composition. However, I do realize if you’re photographing the Eiffel Tower in Paris, a portrait presentation may serve you best. But I have found for most landscape photography, a landscape format best serves the image I’m trying to capture.
On the other hand, there are occasions when someone will specifically request a portrait presentation to best utilize their display space. For those people, I offer this image of the Point Vicente Lighthouse in Palos Verdes, California.
NOW IS THE TIME…TO IGNORE YOUR LIMITATIONS
Limitations are just guidelines.
They may signal different routes,
or different ways to reach a destination.
But they won’t prevent us from getting there,
unless we empower them to do so.
Ignore them. Focus on the journey.

Gorgeous shot Steve! And those words are so true. One thing I learned a while back was to always take a picture both directions because you never know which one you’ll like better.

Hey, thanks Michael! I do know some people need that vertical format, so I often do the same. But, i usually prefer the landscape shots. Thanks for sharing your comment here!! I really appreciate it.

I must say, I have a preference for portrait oriented landscapes – not sure why. In fact, my most recent post isn’t just a portrait-landscape, but a panoramic portrait landscape!
