If you live in Orange County, the beach seems to become a natural part of your life.  At least, that’s the case for me.  There seems to be a call that beckons me to open the sunroof and head down PCH!  In doing so, we make our way through Huntington Beach, Newport Beach, Corona Del Mar, Beautiful Pelican Point (which is a natural preserve located at the south edge of Newport Beach), Laguna Beach, Dana Point, San Juan Capistrano, San Clemente, Oceanside, and Carlsbad.  If you wanted to, you could continue through Encinitas, Del Mar, Torrey Pines, Point Loma, San Diego, and eventually Coronado.

Ah, the beach – this is the perfect time of year!!  No tourists and no college holidays that tend to send hoards of students our way.  Just the locals.  It’s a time when you can ride your bike at your own pace, you can find parking at a glance, and the restaurants are genuinely happy to see you!

Oh yeah!!!  Life’s a beach!!

Now this is my kind of beach!!  Notice: 1) Nice mixture of sand and rocks.  2) No people.  3) Easy access to the water.  4) No people.  5) Pelicans diving into the ocean waters to capture their dinner.  6) No people.  7) Waves crashing on the partially submerged rocks.  8) Did I say, no people?

Grabbed this shot of north Laguna Beach while traveling down the coast over the weekend.

  1. With you there on the no people – love the burst of purple up front, bold enough to hold your eye against the stunning ocean.

  2. Thank you, Dawn! It’s amazing how different the beach becomes in the fall. And the beauty is…the fall can stillprovide some wonderful beach-type weather! 🙂

  3. I love this photograph and I completely agree with you about the people. I live just 3 miles from the Atlantic Coast in lovely New Hampshire and I long for the days after Labor Day weekend when kids are in school and tourists are gone!

  4. Thank you, Jean-Marie! I’m glad you stopped by today!! You know exactly what I’m talking about, don’t you? It’s really quite different!!
