IT’S BEGINNING TO LOOK A LOT LIKE CHRISTMAS!

Christmas in California can take some getting used to.  Even after all these years, I still find it difficult to associate the Christmas season with the warm temperatures of southern California.  As a youngster growing up in Iowa, I knew Christmas was approaching by the falling snow and the breath of vapor I saw each time I exhaled.  But here…well…you find Christmas rapidly approaching even though when you look around you see palm trees swaying in the warm breeze, an abundance of freshly manicured green grass lawns, and a landscape filled with freshly blooming flowers!

And yet, we look around and see definite signs of the season!

Like the snowflakes decorating the Huntington Beach Pier.

…and, even extending along Main Street.

…and, the Strand Hotel adorned in all of its Christmas glory.

…and of course, a Christmas tree – even though you have to get accustomed to the reflection of the palm trees in your ornaments!

Christmas…it really is the most wonderful time of the year!

  1. Gorgeous photos. But not a single photo of psychotic holiday shoppers? Nothing says “Christmas” like a fist fight over the last Holiday Barbie, no matter where you live.
