NOW SHOWING: The Bridges of Madison County

We start off with the first bridge we saw on our shoot, the Cutler-Donahoe Bridge. This bridge is located in a park in the small community of Winterset, Iowa.

The next bridge is the Holliwell Bridge located on county road G57, which is a two-lane gravel road.

The next bridge is the jewel in the crown, The Roseman Bridge.  This was the main bridge featured in the movie with Clint Eastwood and Meryl Streep.  The Roseman Bridge is the furthest from town, but well worth the drive.

The final bridge we photographed was the Cedar Bridge.  Located on county road G4R, this was the only bridge you could drive across.

Our next stop will find us discovering the fascinating landscape of a large Minnesota farm.

  1. Somehow I think the movie made these seem more romantic than perhaps they are…..I somehow thought they would be more decorative I guess. They kind of look like long red boxes. I enjoy the colors though but would like to see them in fall or winter time. Thanks for sharing your trip with us.

  2. I guess simplicity was the style of that period, Car54. I think they would present well in fall or snow. Thanks for sharing your comment.
