WHAT AN EXTRAORDINARY CHANGE OF EVENTS…
Recent events in my life have caused me to pause and take notice. While it’s never a bad thing to have a plan, it can be devastating to have a plan without an element of flexibility!
For the past 18 months I’ve been pouring all of my energy into landscape photography, with a certain degree of success. Moving forward seemed almost too easy! In fact, I planned a trip to northern California, Utah, Colorado, Iowa, and Minnesota to see family and shoot landscapes. And that, too, was successful:
But then something changed…
I made a connection with a California School of Photography that allowed its students access to their studios. I began to learn portrait lighting, poses, and editing. And from this, an avalanche of opportunities have come my way!
Like the opportunity to experiment with studio photography:
And while this was happening, others contracted me to shoot their special events:
So, the winds of change have somewhat blown me away from landscape photography…for now. But landscape will always be my love and the beauty of landscape photography will continue to captivate me, compelling me to chase and bring to you that one-time shot. But for now, in addition to landscape photography I have a new-found love for portrait photography!
I realize I still have a long journey ahead of me. But as I think about it…I’m excited to be at the beginning of this journey, rather than the end!
Follow your dream and go where it takes you! If you have passion and enthusiasm for photography you will succeed no matter what discipline you pursue my friend.

To change direction, heading toward new goals, sometimes out of our comfort zone it s always exciting. Looking forward to see your pictures during this new direction.

Although your landscapes are great, I think you may have a greater aptitude for portrait work. Well done, Steve.
