This was a bloom I happened upon while visiting the Descanso Gardens this past weekend in La Canada Flintridge, California.
Keep shooting!

Hi Debby. I started with my original image and pulled it into Photoshop. I then swapped out the original background for a black one. My next step was to add a dry brush effect to create a subtle texture – but nothing that would be too obvious. Then I added an artistic layer called poster edges. You have to be careful here because too much will overemphasize the edges and add too much black. Finally, I added a lighting effect to draw the eye to the center of the flower. All of these steps will require experimentation in order to achieve the exact effect you’re striving to achieve, so be patient and have fun!

Very impressed! Thank you for taking the time to explain your tricks of the trade. I love the outdoors along with the beach. There is a beach shoot I would love to experiment with when I get a bit of time. Your work creates such elegance. Love it!!
