THE MOST IMPORTANT INGREDIENT IN GOOD PHOTOGRAPHY IS…
If photography is aimed at an exceptional finished product, what in the world is the most important ingredient? While some experts would propose different aspects such as composition, others will tell you lighting. The truth is, there are several factors that must be included to obtain the desired finished product – all of which are important. But for me, the most important of all of these is…
Wait for it…
Wait for it…
That’s right…
Now you may have guessed it from the clues…
The most important ingredient is…PATIENCE.
Many images that I have captured would never have been possible without patience…and coupled with that might be determination.
In this image, I actually had to visit the site a number of times before this image was captured. On my first visit, a marine layer suddenly came in robbing the image of any vibrance that may have been present earlier. On another attempt, the perspective was wrong – even though it would have captured the sunset in a more dramatic fashion, the composition was just not good. Even when I found this perspective, I had to wait. And wait…
Finally just as the sun was setting, the lighting was at its best and this image was captured.
Be patient, my photog friends…
